All Project Investigators can draw one advance, Hyderabad University (UoH) stated on Sunday.

UoH has approximately 500 research students who are chosen by various funding bodies such as theCouncil of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) through national testing. The University ensured that these research students Obtained bursaries without interruption during the lockdown period.

In addition, the University has given advance to the Project Investigators to promote research projects for recurrent expenses including fellowships with the project staff awaiting the release of grants from the funding agencies.

In a statement, UoH Vice-Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile, informed that the university has granted an advance to all the Project Investigators whose project funding is delayed due to the lockdown or otherwise.

This decision has ensured that the salaries of the project staff will continue during the crisis period, and will also take care of other essential project requirements, he added.
