With the nationwide shutdown entering the country, the percentage of people grabbing video content online has skyrocketed.

India is already considered to be a booming market for OTT platforms, with different collection of these platforms merging with each other every day, or being acquired by a larger conglomerate.

The Covid-19 pandemic may have hindered and disrupted companies in many sectors but the OTT platform sector has seen a strong increase in the consumption of their content by people around the world.

Netflix looks forward to extending the Indian video content section of its offerings. It is therefore including its joint venture with ViacomCBS, Viacom18, in talks with partnerships with affiliates of Network18. When asked to Netflix India and Viacom18 about it, the theory was not agreed by any of the companies. Netflix’s Indian spokesman denied the claim while Viacom18’s spokeswoman declined to comment on whether any talks were under way.

Either way, after the study was originally released, the shares in Network18 Media & Investments jumped 5 per cent.
