PLACEMENT CELL – SHIVAJI COLLEGE

With a vision of enriching, preparing and exposing the students of Shivaji College, a community of hard working enthusiasts, Placement Cell of Shivaji College is constantly working to provide better career opportunities, skill enhancement programmes and above all, preparing its students for a competitive world so that they possess all the skills to sustain in such competitive environment.

Placement Cell: The Story so Far

The cell is involved in organising various internship drives, seminars, informative lectures, workshops, etc in order to provide every possible opportunity to the students in designing their CVs, preparing them for the real world working situations.

This year also the cell has organised various events which includes,

Internship Express- The Internship Fair of Shivaji College: Conducted on February 13, 2018, it was a one-day affair where about 16 companies visited the campus and brought to the students various internships offering job profiles in every field. This drive was a huge success where a lot of students gained valuable experience in terms of how to face a full-fledged recruitment process.

‘Teach for India’ Seminar: Placement Cell organised a seminar by ‘Teach for India’ which is a non-profit organisation on February 1, 2018. The idea was to make students aware of these such organisations and their fellowship programmes. The students got to know how the organisation works and their motives behind its initiative.

Global Arcus Placement Drive: It was a placement drive held on December 26, 2017 offering a minimum salary of 3,60,000 per annum. It is a management company working in 55 nations of Africa and was offering job to provide consultancy; be it Strategic, Academic, Placement, etc. Thus, it was immensely valuable for the students.
Genpact Placement Drive: A placement drive was conducted presenting recruitments for Genpact. The drive offered various job profiles like Finance and Accounting, Banking Financial Service and Insurance, etc. The company was offering a minimum salary of 1.3 to 2.0 lakhs per annum.

Royal Bank of Scotland Placement Drive: The RBS visited the campus for hiring students for the job profile of Customer Service Operations Analyst.
IBM Internship Drive: It took place on March 12, 2018 which involved a selection process consisting of written aptitude test. IBM is more than 100-year-old company and pioneer in computation tech domain which offered students with an opportunity to work on live projects with it.

Motivational Sessions: The Placement Cell of Shivaji College organized Josh Talks on 9th March, 2018 with the purpose of spreading knowledge regarding entrepreneurship and skill development. A speaker session was also organised in association with Vision IAS to break the barriers stopping them from preparing for civil services. Likewise, various other sessions were organised throughout the session.

About the Members:

Organising such events and envisaging how it can further help students to broaden their perspectives and working arenas requires a coordinated and wholehearted effort of the team members who works tenaciously throughout the year. The cell consists of four teams each consisting of 5 to 6 members and one team head, who work collectively to take Placement Cell to greater heights and these are as follows:

Recruitment Team
Editorial and Social Media Team.
Event Management Team
Public Relation Team.

Together these teams work to accomplish the vision and goal of the Placement Cell of organising insightful and enlightening events like:

Annual Internship Fair.
Seminars for Knowledge and skill development.
Placement Drives.
