Looking upon the grave pandemic situation, a sub-committee of IIT council has suggested that the students who are pursuing graduation or those who have already enrolled should be made to continue their classes in the online mode for the entire upcoming autumn semester. As far as their laboratory experiments are concerned, those can be completed whenever it is safe for them to come back.
The panel has also suggested several actions for the students enrolled in Masters and PhD programmes.
For the first-year Masters and PhD students, the panel suggested that they should be inducted formally on campus in December-January.
For first-year Master students, all IITs should plan on completing their programme in three semesters instead of four. Amongst the committee, a member also suggested that whenever the conditions would turn safe, the IITs should plan on bringing back the PhD students first.
