As the second edition of JEE mains and advance is rescheduled to be held in July some students and parents are not in favour of exam being held and have started a campaign on Twitter regarding it.
Sarit K Das, director of IIT Ropar has said that cancellation of exam should not be done because admission in IIT is a serious matter and the student’s have to be admitted, it can’t be done on the basis of their board exam results, he further added that rather than thinking about students who want exam to be cancelled MHRD should focus on the students who are preparing their best to crack the exam. He also said that rescheduling of exams can be an option if the situation becomes worse in July but cancellation can’t be.
When he was asked about shortlisting candidates based on their January edition score he replied, as some students did not appear for the first edition it would be like taking away their chance to get into an IIT. He also stated that some students give first edition exams only to get a live experience about the exam and then prepare to further improve their performance in the second one.
