WhatsApp has added a new feature in the beta update of Version 2.18.93 where the payments feature could be used by scanning QR Codes to transfer money. This feature adds more functionality to the Payments function in addition to ‘Send to UPI ID’ feature.
In February, WhatsApp had launched its payment services in India for select Android Smartphones and iPhones in beta version. When they had been accused of not offering a secure platform by not adhering to UPI rules, WhatsApp introduced the ‘Send to UPI ID’ button and now launched the QR Code option.
How to Use WhatsApp Payments QR Code Scan
The feature is available on WhatsApp version 2.18.93 on Google Play Beta Programme.
To use the feature, the Android beta users needs to go to Settings > Payments > New Payments > Scan QR Code.
You will then be directed to the QR Code scanning option where you will asked to fill in the amount you want to send and will ask you for UPI PIN for verification.
