Union Public Service Commission released the downloadable e admit cards on May 7th, 2018 on their official website for the candidates appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examinations on June 3rd, 2018.
A statement issued by UPSC revealed that only 50% of the appearing candidates have downloaded their e admit cards as of now.
The preliminary examination is the first stage to be cleared by aspiring civil servants in the three stage examination procedure conducted by the commission.
The UPSC preliminary examination, popularly known as CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) is conducted for screening purposes only.
As per UPSC notification 2017, CSAT is divided into two objective papers of 2 hours duration each:
1. Paper 1 General Studies( 100 questions , 2 marks each)
2. Paper 2 commonly called CSAT( 80 questions, 2.5 marks each)
Attempting both the papers is mandatory for the candidates in order to be considered for qualification to attempt the main examination.
Therefore, marks obtained in this test lead to the aspiring candidate qualifying oneself to attempt the UPSC mains examination.
Nonetheless, the marks achieved in the preliminary examination are not considered in determining the final rank of merit of each candidate.
The commission in an official statement has advised all candidates who are yet to download their e admit cards to download and print them as soon as possible to prevent any last minute gliches.
The e admit card can be downloaded from the official website of USPC.
