SRCC-Wings of Fire, a student to student assistance initiative has launched a five-day programme called SRCC- Winter School from 18th December to 22nd December. The aim of the programme is at building students’ understanding of the financial world, improving their soft skills as well as equipping them with information, enabling them to make thoughtful decisions in their career ahead.

SRCC – WINTER SCHOOL

The five-day programme runs through a chord of imparting learning in which finance and consultancy are at the centre. The programme has 60 participants from different courses of different colleges of Delhi University creating a diversified atmosphere for students

The programme was inaugurated by the Teacher-in-charge of SRCC-WINGS OF FIRE, Dr. Naveen Mittal followed by an ice-breaking session from The Dramatics society, SRCC which was further proceeded with the specific sessions on Finance, college and professional course, research projects, newspaper talks and reading session and alike.

In its 2nd Day, the programme witnessed a detailed exposure of finance incorporating the base understanding delivered in its inaugural day. The discourse of Kashmir from 1947 till date has been briefly discussed under newspaper talks encouraging students for developing an understanding of such concerns. To lighten up the spirit of interaction, questions were taken after every delivery and some sessions has been designed where student active participation was desirable. The day was concluded with activities organised by Debating society, SRCC and career counselling (Placement and Higher Education)

In its 3rd day, an industrial visit was planned which was supposed to give an insight of on-field work to the students, so they were taken to Sledgehammer Oil Pvt. Ltd in Faridabad which is a part of one of the oldest industrial groups of India, established in 1974 by a team of qualified engineers. Dr. Naveen Mittal and Ms. Shalini accompanied the students to the site routed through bus from the campus. A sense of involvement and enjoyment was witnessed amongst students.

After reaching there, students were divided into 4 groups of 15 each headed by a team leader and industrial assistants wherein they demonstrated various procedures and techniques adopted by the company. The entire operation was segregated under various roofs ranging from testing the feasibility of equipment in an environment similar to the mining sites to the manufacturing of spare parts. Tutorial of moulding, colouring, punching, grading and labelling were shown to students giving them an overview of product development from initial to its final stage.

The visit was concluded with the felicitation of the managing director, Pradeep Mohanty who addressed the students about the evolution of company over the period. He also referred that as a part of corporate social responsibility, the company has ventured into fields like Women Empowerment, educating young minds and promoting the cricket spree amongst youths. The students found the visit both educational and inspirational which will help them understand theoretical academic aspect with real life example.

Being a student to student initiative the majority of the sessions were taken by the college students or pass out students currently aspiring some professional courses.
