The wait is over for first-year degree college students, as the third and final merit list was declared on Wednesday. Many colleges displayed the third list, only a marginal dip in the cut-off percentage was seen as compared to the second list.

According to Asian Age, Over 90 percent of seats are occupied already and the rest are expected to be filled after the third list’s admission process hence the colleges will start the classes next week. In colleges such as St. Xavier’s at Fort and HR College at Churchgate not more than 30 to 40 students were allotted seats, as 90 percent seats are full in light of the first and second merit list.

Technically there are only three merit lists, but the Mumbai University has a provision where colleges can also have the fourth list if they have vacant seats. Dr. Tushar Desai, principal of D.G. Ruparel College, Matunga told the leading daily, “As per the admissions, we will decide on a fourth list. However, because most of them are full, we will start the classes for students by next week.” The students whose name came up in the third list have been requested by colleges to secure admissions by paying fees and by submitting documents from July 18 to July 20.
