Here’s How DU Plans To Tackle Ragging – DU Assassins

Delhi University for controlling ragging has released a notice regarding the prevention of ragging on college campuses. The university has made a list of measures.

These Measures are:

  • For Anti-ragging

For preventing ragging, guardians of all students are asked to submit undertakings during admission that their wards will not take part in such activities. DU has also set up two Joint Control Rooms in the North and South campus for this. There is a plan to form Anti-ragging and disciplinary committees in all colleges to prevent ragging.

  • Women’s safety

For protecting the interests of female students and to provide security the Delhi university has tied up with the Delhi Police. Female police constables in plain clothes shall be deployed in and around the college campus and offenders of eve-teasing and other incidents will be punished. Apart from it, female police officers trained in martial arts shall be deployed from the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) who will monitor sensitive points around campus and will also provide training on self-defense to female students.

  • For Outsiders, defacing of property and traffic

The Delhi University has noted that any outsiders will not enter any college and hostel. The vandalizing of walls by painting, poster or any other method won’t be allowed and the university has prohibited the display of sensitive posters and graffiti within its campuses. Traffic will be moderated by the Delhi Police in the sensitive areas near campuses and students have been especially advised to use public transport in order to prevent congestion.

Step 1– Write a complaint and drop it into your college complaint box

Step 2– Call on the National Anti-Ragging helpline number 1800 180 5522

Step 3– Inform the Joint Control Rooms present in North (27667221) and South Campus (24119832)

Step 4– Call 100 or inform your nearest PCR van

Step 5– Inform the University Information Centre. Numbers- 155215, 27006900 these are available from Monday to Friday or you can email at proctor@du.ac.in, infocentre@du.ac.in
