According to the sources, it was confirmed that the star cast of the upcoming movie’s ‘Satyameva Jayate‘ were set to make an appearance in the Arts Faculty of the Delhi University and the students were enthralled for the opportunity to meet the stars. The actors John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee and Nora Fatehi were on tour for there promotion for the movie.
This meet was scheduled by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) for their event – Sankalp se Sidhi – to grace the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Quit India Movement.
However due to circumstances, the awaited visit had to be cancelled. “Since Independence Day is around the corner, we were not given permission by the Delhi Police, as a large crowd was expected owing to the popularity of the actors. The event stands cancelled as of now, but we might plan it after August 15. Keeping security concerns in mind, the actors also thought that it was better to postpone the
event." said Mahamedhaa Nagar, General Secretary of DUSU when asked the reason for cancellation.
On the other hand, Ram Avtar Tyagi, SHO Maurice Nagar said, "We haven’t denied permission for the event. We have received a WhatsApp message from the students organizing the event today, that the event is cancelled. We have not asked them to cancel the event or refused permission to organised it in the campus.
In this case, it was not cancelled because of Independence Day security concerns.” denying refusing permission for the event and disregarding the comment made on cancellation due to security reasons.
