New Delhi : University grant commission (UGC) was asked by supreme court to clear its stand on Final year exams. UGC stated and sticked from beginning on the same decision to conduct final year exams.
UGC stand was clear from the initial stage. The commission wants all its affiliated universities to conduct final year exams and without holding exams no university can award degrees.
High court on Friday mentioned in front of UGC that few universities have promoted students on the basis of past performance and internals taken by college. UGC states “IIM’s/IIT’s are not under UGC and they can do anything, we are not concern about them”.
Suddenly, hon’ble court have asked the official “Are you saying that you are above IIT’s and IIM’s”. Court directed UGC to submit an affidavit stating the modes of examination universities can conduct.
As per guidelines, universities can conduct any kind of examination – open book, Offline pen paper based, MCQ, Assignment, etc.

The officials of the university grant commission are arguing in apex court and high court on the same matter from past 1 month. They need universities to conduct exams anyhow. Even after keeping a close check at Covid numbers, they have not withdrawn the decision.
