The Delhi Police have arrested four people, including two students of Ramjas College and SRCC, in connection with an admission racket. A former Ramjas student have also been arrested.

The Ramjas college authorities had recently filed a complaint about admissions obtained on fake documents and the police had registered 28 FIRs in the racket.

“We have arrested four persons — Mukul, a second-year BCom student of Ramjas, Sahil, a second-year BCom student of SRCC, Sanchit, a former Ramjas student and Rahul, the owner of a nearby cyber café. They used to charge anything between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 6 lakh (for admissions),” IB Rani, DCP (north) said. Sources said they used to roam around the college during admission time and identify soft targets.

“After convincing aspirants, they used to prepare fake mark sheets at Rahul’s cyber café in Vijay Nagar. We suspect this racket was going on for the past two years. More arrests would be made in the coming days,” a senior police officer said. The police said these students are not the masterminds and just part of the racket.

“They used to lure students and take money from them. We seized the bank accounts and found that the amount was also transferred to someone else. The mastermind is yet to be caught,” the officer said.

The police seized several documents from the cyber café.Around 28 first-year students of different courses — including B.Com, BA and Economics Honours — who had taken admission in the 2011-2012 session using fake mark sheets are under the scanner.

The police are suspecting the role of a few Ramjas College officials who had signed on the admission papers of these 28 students.

Recently, a student who had taken admission on fake marksheets had committed suicide at his Pashchim Vihar residence.
