RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
Rape & sexual assault is a crime which involves sexting, sexual harassment, touching, or forced touching or fondling in public. Rape is any unwanted sexual penetration (vaginal, anal, or oral) or contact with the genitals that is the result of actual or threatened physical force (without consent) or when the person is unable to give affirmative consent.
Rape has turned out to be a major concern nowadays. Various researchers and surveys indicated towards the importance or paying attention at these issues. Previous data has shown countless number of reported and non reported rape cases, where victims has suffered a lot of anxiety and depression by not feeling secured at their own place. Shockingly, In most of the cases accused was not any stranger or outsider but their own family member. Husband, boyfriend, friend, colleague or any known person are more likely to commit a crime according to the records.
Surveys and researches have shown that most of the cases were not even reported by the victims. Reasons behind this was mainly because of the time taken by the judiciary to reach the conclusion, fee of the lawyer etc. Being judged by the society was the most common among all. Not only girls were the victim but many boys has also been through this painful nightmare. Family members has also been one of the reason of not reporting and asking for help.
There are various theories on the causes of rape and several have been identified as important to our understanding of rape and focus not only on individual characteristics but also on societal roots. A brief review suggests that understanding the causes of rape requires an examination of genetics (and associations of genetics with antisocial behaviours for those with abusive childhoods, developmental psychopathology, gender theory).
Rape and sexual harassment can even lead to death of the victim. Brutally beaten up and violently getting abused on the regular basis is extremely painful. All this can cause really bad impact on the victim and their loved ones, one used to suffer anxiety, depression, stress and physical suffering too. Both mentally and physically harassment is attempted by the criminal in such cases, where a victim hardly survives with such painful scars not only on their body but on their minds as well. This has significant consequences of not only psychological and physical harm but an individual can also suffer through sexually transmitted disease, such as HIV. It can majorly affect one’s social life to a greater extent and can effect a person to death.
Different and important laws and sections have been made and implemented till now, but problem of rape in society still exists. We actually need not take this matter lightly instead of taking some significant steps in this direction in order to prevent people suffering through this painful nightmare which can even take their life from them. We need to start this education with the adolescents, by showing right directions and sharing appropriate knowledge with them, or else they will assume things on their own and use social media as their guide or solution to their problems, which can be dangerous for not only them but for the whole society. Drugs, alcohol, and different addictions should be banned strictly to avoid such issues to a larger extent. Laws and punishments should be modified by the government and take much more stricter actions on such shameful acts.
We as a human need to set examples for the upcoming generation and should contribute in the betterment of the environment by educating ourselves and promoting good.
