student-friendly move, the Delhi University (DU) on Friday introduced new features to its admission portal for the academic session 2018-19.
The news features include providing a single portal for applications for both merit-based and entrance-based entry into undergraduate (UG) courses.
The decision was taken in order to make the process easier for CBSE students. Since a large number of CBSE students apply every year in DU, the features will ease their work.
As soon as the students enter their roll number, the details of Class 12th marks will be captured automatically by the database software provided by the CBSE.
Applicants will not have to put the details manually in the form, according to DU Registrar Tarun Das.
Amidst the anticipation for the CBSE, ISC results, a five-year integrated journalism course has also been added to the DU portal. Those aspiring to take the course can directly apply from the DU admission portal.
Moreover, applicants now upload three best certificates for admission to sports category. The three certificates have to be uploaded as three separate documents.Earlier, candidates were allowed to upload only one certificate for the same.
The university had also conducted a two-day pre-admission orientation programme to educate the students and parents about the new features.“The main objective of the two-day programme is to familiarise aspirants about the online registration process and admissions in the undergraduate course during 2018-19, particularly in the context of some new features added in the application form this year,” Registrar Das said in a statement.
