Delhi university has started it’s registeration for MPhil and PhD courses from 3 june but the EWS (economically weaker section) option still isn’t available on online portal.
This delay from last few days in adding the option has caused panic in students regarding their admission.
In January the central govt. had cleared 10% seats for EWS category in jobs and other institutes and following the action DU also increased 10% seats for EWS in general category.
The officer on special duty of admission Sukanto Dutta said the varsity will soon add the option on portal.
There is a limit to the number of MPhil and PhD students a professor, an associate professor and an assistant professor can guide according to UGC regulations 2016. An associate professor can guide two MPhil and six PhD scholars at a time and a professor can guide three MPhil and eight PhD scholars and an assistant professor can guide one MPhil and four PhD scholars.
