Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ! ‘Bharat Ratna’, ‘poet’, ‘eloquent orator’, ‘three dimensional leader’. He is called by numerous names but one name trumps all and that is ‘Bhishma Pitamah of Indian politics’. Name itself is so strong that it doesn’t require an entire sentence!

Alas, India lost it’s “Bharat Ratna” on 16 August 2018 while battling from cancer.

He was the first non congress Prime Minister who completed full term of five years and brought new legislation to check corruption in politics. He could be described as a living personification of patriotism.

His list of achievements didn’t halt just yet. He also created a tool to implement the Right to Education Act by launching his dream project, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in 2000-2001. Through this project, government provided free and compulsory education to children between the age group of 6 to 14 years.

Free books were provided to all the students.Government schools were built after every 2km.

Also, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was formulated in the line of District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) to improve the condition of primary education system in India.

Its result was shown when a statement released was by the centre in 2013 declared that school dropout has declined from 80 lakh in 2009 to 30 lakh in 2012.

Currently, SSA is merged with Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Teacher Education and is a part of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

We all know whether in Heaven or on Earth, Atal Bihari Vajpayee will always remain one of the leading Prime Ministers India has ever seen and no one can replace him.
