Recently released trailer of Shoojit Sarcar directoral Gulabo Sitabo is a quirky slice-of-life dramedy starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana who steal a million of hearts with their performance.
The trailer shows Bachchan as Mirza, a 78-year-old landlord who lives in his most prized possession — an old depleted mansion (haveli) in the heart of Lucknow. He is always seen at loggerheads with his tenant, Baankey (Khuranna) who matches Mirza bit for bit in their ceaseless bantering. They share a relationship that is full of sarcasm as they can’t stand each other.
This drama also stars Vijay Raaz, who plays an archaeology department official, and serves as an obstacle in Mirza’s quest to sell his mansion. Bachchan’s character is that of a strict landlord who wants to get rid of his tenant but Khurrana just wouldn’t leave.
Gulabo Sitabo is all set to make its digital release on Amazon Prime Video on June 12. It marks to be the first film that has bypassed theatrical release to premiere directly on an OTT digital platform, owing to the uncertainty over reopening of cinema halls, that were shut during the nationwide lockdown to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
