Christ University, Bangalore was advised by the State higher education department to not conduct exams for students of the intermediate semesters amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. This happened as a response to all the protests and criticism by the students and student organisations. The department advised the college to promote such students based on their internal scores and performances from the previous semester.

Even though the institution comes under the University Grants Commission, which promotes examinations at a time like this, the state education department felt it was necessary to intervene, and therefore wrote a letter to the Vice Chancellor of the university. It also stated that exams should be held only for the final year students if it was necessary.
In case of the state run universities, the government has already cancelled the exams for students of the intermediate semesters, keeping in mind the current situation of the country.
