New Delhi : Delhi University to commence Open Book Exams for Final year students of UG & PG courses from tomorrow onwards. The OBE will be concluded by 31st August.
The Delhi University final year exams are much controversial this year because university has adopted OBE as a one time measure due to COVID-19.
Thousands of students, Teacher’s and student bodies opposed the decision of Delhi University to conduct open book exam’s. High Court is also get involved in this OBE procedure.
Delhi HC on Wednesday gave green signal to DU for conducting OBE. Conducting Final year exams is mandatory as per UGC guidelines, hence university cannot cancel exams. Similar petition challenging UGC guidelines is going on in the Supreme Court.
SC will announce the order on August 10, Monday and on the same day University is commencing the exams. SC have asked UGC and MHA to clear it’s stand on final year exams in the last hearing on July 31.
As per the recent reports, MHA has not filed any affadavit. If MHA do no submit its say then SC can cancel MHA power to file an affadavit in this case. SC can give relief to lakhs of Students tomorrow.
Maharashtra Govt has also filed affadavit demanding state autonomy. This move will help many states to take there own decision to conduct exams or not.
DU Open Book Exams
Much awaited Delhi University exams are finally commencing from tomorrow. The OBE has already postponed 2 times before. Earlier, exams were scheduled from July 1 but univeristy Postponed to 10 days. Again, Univeristy Postponed the date to more than one month because of UGC Guidelines dated 6 July.
This open book Examination allows delhi University student to attempt paper by using resources such as Books, reading, internet and study material. OBE is not completely online mode of exam, it is more a blended mode.
OBE requires Internet facility to download and upload answer sheets but students need to use pen and paper to write answers. DU gave allows JPG and PDF format for students.
Delhi University is also providing additional facilities for students appearing for OBE to submit answer sheets through email and online portal.
Every student will receive an acknowledgement email from delhi university, once answer sheet is successfully submitted either via e-mail or Online portal.
