The Delhi Varsity has cancelled all the admission interviews of MPhil and PhD candidates in all its departments. This is a result of the dismal performance in the entrance test this year as the qualifying marker was increased to 50%.
Many teachers and students have raised concerns over the inability of students from reserved categories to get admission. Keeping their interest in mind, the varsity has kept the interview process on hold. All the departments have been noticed that the interviews already conducted have been cancelled and the scheduled interviews are postponed till further notice.
The HoD said that this had to happen because of the 50% qualifying marks
set by the UGC 2016 gazette notification.
So, only a few aspirants could clear the exam. He further told that the varsity was planning to amend the rules for entrance and may reduce the qualifying percentage or would relax the qualifying percentage by 5% for the reserved category.
