DU IS LIKELY TO REOPEN SOON!!

Recently, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh, who has recently held the role of VC, has cleared the air on a number of problems, controversies, and the most anticipated topic, “Reopening of DU colleges.” “Reopening of Delhi University” has been the talk of the town for over two years”. In a recent interview with a prestigious publication, he stated, “We have to check the situation of COVID in those states (from whence students must come) as well… We have presently opened the varsity for practicals, projects, Ph.D. students, and research for PG and undergraduate final-year students. However, we may soon open it for projects, practicals, and research for first, second, and third years.”

So, if we summarise the part of the interview focusing on reopening :

  • As soon as the DDMA gives the go-ahead to allow 100 percent seating capacity in colleges, the colleges will begin reopening, but it will be at the discretion of the principal of the college after considering hostels, classroom size, and other factors.
  • Accommodation of students in hostels, particularly those not from Delhi-NCR, would be a challenge for both authorities and students since occupancy per room will be reduced to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
  • The odds of inviting final year students for offline theoretical lessons are in favor since the VC, Prof. Yogesh Singh believes that this is the most important year for the students and therefore should go with restarting offline lectures for them.
