Day 1 of CWG – two medals won by Indian Athletes

The 21st Commonwealth Games are here, they started on 4th April and will be going on till 15th April at Goldcoast, Australia. This year 71 nations are taking part in 275 events in 18 sports.
Every time, Indian athletes have made the nation proud by increasing the medal tally each time and this year, it is no different.
World champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a gold in the women’s 48kg event on the first day of Commonwealth Games. She went on a record-smashing spree and smashed the Commonwealth and the Games record in snatch, pulling off clean lifts in all her three attempts- 80kg, 84kg and 86kg.
P Gururaja had earlier claimed a silver medal in the men’s 56kg event to open India’s medal account.
Let’s stand proud for our athletes and cheer them out.
