Mumbai : The protest against the decision of UGC to conduct the final year exam’s is increasing day by day in India. Many political parties, student bodies and teacher’s associations united to take action against common issue.
Aaditya Thakrey challenged the decision of UGC to conduct final year exams by the universities by end of September in Supreme Court.
The petition has been filled by yuva sena which is the youth wing of the rulling shiv sena. “We wrote letters to the UGC, the HRD ministry requesting them to not hold exams and rethink the decision. But we didn’t receive any response. And then lakhs of students approached us from all across the country and then, based on guidance of Aaditya Thackeray, we filed a writ petition,” Varun Sardesai, the Secretary of the Yuva Sena, said.

UGC Decision
university Grant Commission mentioned in the revised guidelines that it is compulsory for all universities across the nation to conduct final year exams by 30 September. The decision came on 6 July, 2020 after which many universities has postponed their exams.
Student’s Demand
Since, the covid-19 cases crossed 1.05 Million in India, it is not feasible for universities to conduct final year exam’s by end of September for the sake of just last semester.
The petition filled against UGC decision not only in Mumbai but also in New delhi, Punjab and Haryana. Student’s demand to announce this decision as optional and award degrees on the basis of past semesters.
In case any student voluntarily want’s to write exam in future, he or she can give when the situation allows to conduct for universities.
