Around 30 administrative positions in the Delhi University are either lying vacant or are being filled temporarily. The appointment of the administrators is co-terminative with the appointment of vice chancellor of Delhi University, as it suggests the positions are to be filled after appointment of VC till he bears his office. However the vice chancellor, Yogesh Tyagi was appointed 3 years ago but admin posts are either lying vacant or have been temporarily filled “till further orders”.

The position of Pro Vice Chancellor, Director South Campus, Dean of colleges, however, are filled with people who already have other administrative work. The posts of Dean Students welfare, Dean examination, Dean research, Dean of faculties, Assistant Registrars and Deputy Registrars are also filled temporarily.

The V-C is violating a host of provisions of the statue, which is about appointing administrative people. Many times this matter was raised by Executive council but no action is still taken on the matter. The V-C didn’t responded to any calls, letters, e-mails and messages.

A letter to vice president Venkaiah Naidu, who is the chancellor and president Ram Nath Kovind , who is the visitor of university , was written that stated all the matter and the marked it as “violation of universities statutes” , the signatories to the letter of EC were: Rajesh Jha, court member KK Sharma and finance committee member Rajpal singh.
According to the university statue 11-G (2), making appointments is among the duties entrusted to the vice chancellor.

He is neither performing on such ground nor responding on the matter. It is obvious that those who are already bearing office charges would be overburdened being given more duties and won’t be able to perform well and the post laying vacant are itself a big issue which would on a whole have a deteriorating effect on the university.
