According to the new industry survey popular video sharing service TikTok has over 600 million users in India. That makes the country it’s second-biggest outside China market. But the platform is getting a lot of hate this week for allowing a user to post content that supposedly glories acid attack. It has upset Indians on social media, down ranked the Play Store app, and then had it banned.
In India TikTok has been downgraded from four to 1-star on Google Play over the past few days. Many users on social media shared their feelings towards the app, claiming to have uninstalled the app.
The content was generated by user called Faizal Siddiqui who has over 13 million TikTok followers. Faizal says in the video, “Did the guy you left me for you abandoned you? “And after that he takes a glass filled with liquid and sprinkles it on his ‘girlfriend’ at the end of the video, the woman’s face changes with the make-up of scars after “acid attack”
Some users also encouraged their friends to give TikTok poor ratings on the Google Play Store, while demanding the ban of chinese application in india.
