Ideally known as the Queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut is all set to play the role of India’s one and only female Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. She confirmed her role on Twitter but hasn’t revealed the name of the proposed movie yet.

The actor confirms the development of the project and claims that the movie won’t be a biopic but a political drama which will incorporate significant moments of Indian political history that will include Operation Blue Star and The Emergency. “To be precise, a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India (sic),” she said. Furthermore, she added the film is based on a book.

“Yes, we are working on the project and the script is in final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi, it is a grand period film, to be precise a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India.” says Kangana in her statement.

The story and the screenplay of the film is being written by Sai Kabir, who will also direct the film. Prior to this, Sai Kabir also worked in Revolver Rani with Kangana. Ranaut tweeted, “Happy to announce my dear friend Kabir Sai and I are collaborating on a political drama. Produced by Manikarna Fims. Written and Directed by Sai Kabir (sic).”

Talking about social media, she shares a throwback picture dressed as Indira Gandhi. She claimed that the photo was from an old photoshoot that was based on “iconic women” from early in her career.

It is being said that the movie will have a number of prominent celebrities who will step in the shoes of political leaders like Sanjay Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Morarji Desai and Lal Bahadur Shashtri among others. It is anticipated that yet-to-be titled film will be mounted on a large scale.

Apart from this film, Kangana has also other films like Dhaakad and Tejas on her list. Currently, she is running a tight schedule to shoot for action thriller Dhaakad in Bhopal. Earlier this month, she also announced the second installment of the Manikarnika franchise titled Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda.
