JNUSU Elections 2018: Polling on its Way

Jawaharlal Nehru University students are voting today in the students union polls through which the top positions in the politically active campus will be filled.

Elections are held in the campus for the positions of president, vice president, general secretary and joint secretary.

The Left-backed All India Students Association (AISA), Democratic Students Federation(DSF), All India Students Federation (AISF) and Students Federation of India (SFI) have decided to come together to form the United Left Alliance.
The RSS affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) and Congress affiliated National Students Union of India(NSUI) have also put up their perfectly capable candidates which are most likely to be looking to challenge the Left hegemony on the campus.

Also, considering the controversy regarding the EVMs in DUSU elections, the voting in JNUSU elections is taking place on ballot paper.

The first phase of the voting started at 9:30 a.m and continued till 1:30 p.m. Whereas, the second phase began at 2:30 p.m and will go on until 5:30 p.m.

All the arrangements for the elections are made by the election authorities and are being closely watched to avoid any controversies that may take place as soon as possible.
