HRD minister to meet education secretaries to discuss on Final year exams

The Revised UGC Guidelines have created different kind of pressures among the states, universities and student’s. Recently, New Delhi join the list of those states who have announced the cancellation of Final year Exams.

Recently, it was notified that HRD minister will meet all the education secretaries this week to sort out differences over conducting mandatory final-year and final-semester exams.

“Few states are not following protocol and announcing cancellation of exams at colleges and universities. What they are ignoring is that a degree without UGC approval does not mean anything. It’s there in the UGC Act, and it’s binding. They are putting students’ future at risk and creating confusion,” said an official, requesting anonymity.

UGC guidelines are mandatory for all States and Universities and No state can take decision of cancellation without discussing with MHRD said an official. The meeting will be held this week in which discussions will be done related to this issue.

Arvind Kejriwal, CM Delhi and Captain Amrinder Singh, CM Punjab have also wrote letter to PM Narendra Modi to look into this issue while the protest is increasing day-by-day in the country against UGC guidelines.
