Bollywood actor Jahnvi Kapoor is all set to be on Netflix again, with her film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, the story of Indian Air Force’s first woman pilot in war.
Although the date has not yet been confirmed, Kapoor took to Instagram to confirm the film’s release on the OTT platform.
The film is produced jointly by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, and features actors Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi as well.
In an interview, producer Karan Johar said, “Gunjan Saxena is a ground-breaking film based on a true story about a woman who has shown unprecedented bravery and inspiration to many over the coming years. We’re excited to partner with Netflix and share this fearless story with millions around the world about following your heart and your dreams.
Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena and Flight Lieutenant Srividya Rajan were the first women officers to go to war for the Indian Air Force. During the Kargil War of 1999, Flying Cheetah helicopters went into the combat zone, rescued several officers. When a missile targeting her missed and crashed behind her helicopter, Saxena got a close shave. She was awarded for displaying bravery at the border with the Shaurya Vir and that’s how she came to be known as the ‘Kargil Girl.’
