Source : Banglore Mirror – Usually, Bangalore University (BU) declares results late. But this year, that has changed. The university declared the results for some of its engineering courses in less than 90 minutes of conducting the last exam. On Saturday, BU announced the results of final semester BE in Civil and Mechanical engineering streams.
Why the rush?
Many final semester engineering students were waiting desperately for the results as many of them had job offers in hand and have to submit their scorecard by September 15. A few others are also eyeing the public works department (PWD) posts for which September 16 is the last date to apply.
Hence, University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE, which is affiliated to BU) had to race against time, claimed the college’s principal HN Ramesh.
Ramesh told BM that final year exams were delayed this year due to the outbreak of covid-19. Then following the UGC’s guidelines, the theory papers were held on September 1, 3, 5 and 8 and the practicals began from September 9.
The university asked evaluators to begin their jobs from the next day of the exam itself. However, the challenge was the exam on September 8 after which they needed quickly evaluate the answer sheets.
The tabulation for the theory papers were carried out and when the practical exams concluded at 5 pm on Saturday, the marks were added to the theory papers and the results were declared. The results were announced by 6.30 pm.
