DUSU Elections 2018 Live Updates: Problems with EVMs, Counting Suspended Until Further Orders

The results of DUSU Elections are anticipated with lots of excitement. Counting of the votes began today at 8 A.M. to elect the deserving students for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary.

This year more than 2 lakh students voted in the election, in a hope of better facilities in their respective colleges. The percentage of the voters went upto 44.46 per cent.

Also, the elections are considered important because the result of this year will help major political parties to under the mood of young voters ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

According to a member of NSUI, DUSU are like the _*”semi finale for the Lok Sabha Elections.”*_ It will give them the perspective on what the young and educated voter wants.

As of now, after the sixth round of counting, NSUI is leading for the post of President and Secretary whereas ABVP for the post of Vice President.

However, the Congress supported NSUI has alleged technical glitches in EVMs which broke out clashes between NSUI and ABVP supporters. They also broke down the window panes of the counting centre. For now, counting has been suspended till the further orders.
