Delhi University to conduct 4th semester in ABE mode for undergraduates

After the postponement of 3rd year students final examinations till 7th July 2021, Delhi University now has announced that it will be conducting the fourth-semester of undergraduates in ABE i.e. Assessment Based Examinations mode.

 

The decision was made under the light of current situation of surging COVID-19 positive cases. As per the media reports, in the first week of May 2021, Delhi University officials claimed that nearly 70 per cent of the staff in the Examination Branch of the University was battling with Covid-19. Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) said that the varsity has lost 33 working members of the faculty due to Covid-19 since the end of March 2021.

 

The University of Delhi stated that all the guidelines related to Assessment Based Examinations will be released on a later phase. However, in ABE mode exams, students will be given marks on the basis of subject-specific assignments submitted. The students do not need to appear in the end-semester examinations for being promoted to the next semester.

 

Additionally, the varsity revealed that the mode of examinations for second-semester is yet to be decided.

 

The University took its official twitter handle to make the announcement. It said: “Intermediate semester IV for 3-year UG courses will be on ABE mode of Examination, Detailed guidelines to follow soon.” Furthermore it added, “Examination of first year students (II Sem) will be decided in due course of time.”
