Celebrating Patriotism- Surgical Strike Day in JNU and DU

After the Uri attack on 18 September 2016, the Indian army conducted “surgical strikes” against suspected militants in Pakistani-administered Kashmir on 29 September 2016.

Events to commemorate “Surgical Strike Day” were observed in both Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and University of Delhi (DU) on Saturday as requested by the government.

National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) units of mostly all the colleges affiliated under DU organised various events, from rallies and lectures to talks and talent shows. At an event organised in the university conference hall, retired officers, Major General P.K. Saighal and Major General Dilwar Singh were seen as the guests of honour.

Meanwhile, homage was paid by JNU at the “Wall of Heroes” in the Convention Centre accompanied by NCC marches to celebrate the day.
