Reportedly, the Sentence Review Jail of Delhi is considering Santosh Singh’s premature release from the jail who was convicted in 2006 for raping Priyadarshini Matto (a 23 year old Delhi University student) in 1996 and was finally given a life term in 2010. But apparently, this decision is itself against the rules of Sentence Review Board of Delhi and hence, might not be enforced. The rules clearly state that for a life term to be reviewed, at least 20 years of imprisonment must be completed completed and Santosh has clearly not fulfilled the criteria.
