Academic council (AC) University of Delhi has decided to introduce 30 new courses, at both under graduation and post-graduation level, in around 20 colleges. An approval for increasing seats to 232 seats in existing courses in two colleges.

As it is a dream of every student to get admission into Delhi University, now they will have more opportunities to courses areas in the coming academic session 2019.

This decision was taken by the academic council last week at its meeting. According to the council sources, these list of courses were first passed to the standing committee of the University for Academic Affairs of university in September, 2018.

Hansraj suman, an AC committee member said,” the academic council has approved to introduce 30 new courses at the under graduate and post graduate level in around 20 colleges from the next academic session 2019-20.

The courses are presently taught at other colleges in the university. With this decision, these courses will now be available at more colleges. The council has also given nod to introduce 10 vocational courses in some colleges from the upcoming session,”.

Officials of the university said that with the increase in availability of courses at colleges, students will get wider opportunities from this academic year. Every year thousands of applications to popular courses are rejected due to limited seats into such courses. But, now even the seats in the existing courses have also increased for students.

The minutes of the AC meeting, held on January 2, 2019 and adjourned till January 17, the followings course areas are being approved, they are:

Undergraduate courses in these colleges BA(hons) in bhim rao ambedkar college, BA(HONS. IN economics) in dayal singh evening college and guru nanak dev khalsa college, BA (hons. in philosophy) in hansraj college and lashmibai college and bhaskara charya college. BA (hons. In history) Dayal singh college, BA (hons. In political science) in bhim rao ambedkar college, BA(Hons. Hindi journalism and, mass communication)in Jesus and Mary college and B.sc hons in environmental science in Vivekananda college and ip college for women among others.

The post-graduation courses which have been approved include MA in English in shri gurunanak Dev College, MA Hindi in Venkateswara College, and MSc in operational research at shaheed Sukhdev College of business studies and Keshav College among others.

The minutes also stated the number of seats increased in the colleges.This is surely going to add to student’s opportunities at campus.
