Discover The Types Of Students In Online College

It has almost been two years when DUites were seen on the streets of Kamala Market, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Hudson Lane, Satyaniketan, Cannaught Place, and in every other outing space. Every DU college student would dash around with their friends, trying hard to click the perfect Instagrammable picture, joking while laughing hard and creating memories. Well, those days seem long lost now, don’t they?

In the wake of the coronavirus crisis, freshers’ party is cancelled, graduation is postponed and students are forced to stare at their rectangular screens all day long. Even with technology at their fingertips, house arrested students are left with the only option of daydreaming about their ‘normal’ college life. The college-from-home situation has enabled the students to stay in the bed, constantly worrying about their bandwidth and completing the assignments with the ‘help’ of google.

Today in 2021, we can easily distinguish the Delhi University students as per their actions and thoughts. Read on to explore:

Firstly, comes the ‘please reopen the colleges but take online exams’ 3rd-year students. They are often found protesting for colleges to reopen. They are masters in making the #ReopenDU trend on Twitter within hours. Their favourite hobby is to rant and rave about the closure of the campuses. They have no idea about what’s going in online classes (because no attendance marks in online classes). Additionally, they will be always seen relying on ‘external sources’ like WhatsApp group, and Sparknotes for their internals, assignments and OBEs (it is called taking help and not cheating okay?). They have officially left hope of getting a farewell party and is currently crying to get placed in a reputed company.

In the second place comes the ‘I want to visit my college campus at least once in my life’ 2nd-year students. Their favourite time pass activity is thinking about visiting the college and meeting their classmates for the first time. For this purpose, they have developed a habit of creating class WhatsApp groups to plan meetups and parties (which have to be cancelled after 4 days right?). Students of this category are putting very much effort to make their online college memorable by clicking google meet/zoom screenshots. They are very enthusiastic about their upcoming third year as the colleges might reopen.

The third is ‘yay, I finally got admission to DU college even after sky-rocket cut-offs’ 1st-year students. Their college has not officially started but their show off has begun. Their Instagram bio has now changed to ‘DU’24’ or ‘DUite’24’. The students of this category are hyperactive in bragging the DU tag.   They are clearly very excited to start their graduation life (let them enjoy it till it lasts). 1st-year students have started maintaining a calendar to schedule their perfect college life. They have made mental notes of what they will accomplish in the three years. They will be often found calling their seniors to know about their college and other stuff. Caution – their energy can make you feel sick.

Today, Delhi University and DUites have a new definition. However, adjusting to the truth that students will not be able to have a glimpse of college before graduating is quite depressing. But never mind, just remember, to make your college days as memorable as it can be; whether online or offline. Why? Because years later when Instagram and Facebook memory will pop up in your phone notification, your face will have a wide smile looking at that weird photo.
