IIT Bombay, IISc Bengaluru, IIT Delhi are the India’s highest ranked varsities in the list of global universities according to QS World University Rankings.
The rankings are based on six criteria: academic eminence, international faculty and students ratio, students per faculty ratio, citations per faculty and employer reputation.
IIT Bombay is ranked on 172nd, IISc on 185th and IIT Delhi on 193rd. A sum of 21 Indian Institutes are ranked in top 1000. Other IITs in top 500 are Madras on 275th rank, Kharagpur on 314th, Kanpur on 350th, Roorkee on 383rd and Guwahati on 470th. IISc is India’s best research university as it received 100/100 in “citations per faculty parameter”.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is ranked on 1st followed by Stanford University on 2nd and Harvard University on 3rd.
