7 member delegation of Delhi University Students’ Union led by President Akshit Dahiya met the Dean Examinations and submitted a 7 point memorandum regarding the upcoming examinations.
The memorandum which was submitted incorporated the 7 vital and the integral demands with regard to the upcoming examinations and also included the grievances as well as the issues associated with the previous semester results that have been recently released. The demands which have been proposed in the memorandum include the increment in the options of the examinations , a fostering of a holistic online portal for academic resource materials , enhancement of flexibility through increment of the timings of the examinations , emphasising on the need for revaluation to resolve the technical errors which have emerged in the previous semester results etc.
DUSU President Akshit Dahiya said ‘’ We have made SCRAE , conducted survey of more than 10,000 students & had meetings with almost all possible stakeholders of Delhi University. We have to ensure that all the 9 lakh students are taken into consideration & no not even a single student is affected in the process and thus we submitted a 7 point memorandum to the Dean Examination. “
DUSU Vice President Pradeep Tanwar said “ As a responsible, credible and a student-friendly DUSU , we have to ensure that if the results of some students were affected due to any reasons in the previous semester , they also receive a chance to improve their result and should not be disadvantaged. We hence have submitted the memorandum so that their concerns can be addressed and thoroughly resolved . ‘’
1. The timings of the open book examinations should be increased as students have less time for attempting a question compared to they used to have cartier & also technical problems might arise for the students in uploading of answer & downloading of question. Example :- For Law Faculty students: they have only 30 minutes for each question weighing 25 marks each.
Earlier the average timing to attempt a 20 marks question used to be about 36 minutes.
2. There should be an increment in the options of the questions to enhance flexibility because the syllabus taught to students in offline mode is mostly 50 therefore choices will also be according to that. Therefore we demand either 3 questions to be attempted out of total 6 questions or questions should be increased to 8 if the students have to attempt 4 questions.
- A fostering of a comprehensive and a holistic online portal for the students wherein there is a provision of the academic resource materials such as the notes the syllabus and also the other materials to keep them thoroughly updated.
- An option of the outline examinations should remain open for the students who wish to give the outline examinations even after the online examinations & no fee should be asked for them to sit in offline examination
- A carry forward scheme should be implemented for the intermediate semester year students. As the system of promotion has been brought and if the previous semester results of the students are affected due to some reasons
6. They will be at a disadvantage due to the promotion system and thus, they should receive a chance to improve their results. As the students would stay for a longer period in the university, we have an option to conduct their eurs later Promoting students has many disadvantages as we take out their opportunity to gain knowledge and improve score
7. There were several technical erroes and issues that have emers in the previous semester Results that he been recently neleased, The main corpore making issues. Hence marks of the sujet hengladbalss the other there is a need for the revaluation of the results thoroughly so that these issues are resolved.
