DU remaining seats likely to be filled by special drive

Delhi University may now conduct a special drive to fill the remaining undergraduate seats in 61 colleges. This year the university announced the schedule up to the fifth list only. The colleges have also not been informed on what to do with the remaining empty seats. The admission under the fifth list ended on Tuesday.

Anju Srivastava, principal of Hindu College, said that there is no information about a sixth cutoff list yet. “General category seats in our college are filled. There may be drive to fill seats in off-campus colleges. So far, we are in the dark as we have heard that the administration is still contemplating what to do next.” Last year, DU had released 10 cutoff lists and even conducted a special drive to fill the seats in the reserved category. According to the principals, there are still few general seats that are yet to be filled so a special drive would not help. “Special drives are usually for reserved category seats. The university has to think of the general seats as well. The college session has started so the decision should be taken soon,” said a principal of a south campus college.
