Chromebook Workshop Experience: A Visit to Google Office, Gurugram

Before Diwali, Gargi College hosted an insightful workshop centered on Chromebooks. The workshop was designed to familiarize students with the device’s features and capabilities, and participants were tasked with three assignments: Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets.

Among the participants was Anshika Singh a student from Gargi College and a key member of DU Assassins, a media platform that brings campus news, events, and opportunities to students. Her performance in the workshop earned her a spot among the 25 selected students who got the chance to visit the Google office in Gurugram.

Arrival at Google Office: A Warm Welcome

The students arrived at the Google office in Gurugram, escorted by their college. Upon arrival, each student was provided with an ID card, displaying their names. In addition to the Gargi College students, several entrepreneurs and startup founders were also present. After the welcome, the students were treated to refreshments while they waited for the day’s events to begin.

Guest Speaker: Chhavi Mittal – Empowering Content Creators and Mothers

The main event started around 11 a.m., focusing on mothers and content creators. The guest speaker for the event was Chhavi Mittal, a well-known content creator and mother. She shared her valuable insights in an interview-style session, where she discussed her journey as both a mother and a content creator.

Chhavi spoke about the challenges and joys of balancing motherhood with the demands of content creation, shedding light on the complexities of the digital world. The session was followed by a Q&A round, where students had the opportunity to ask questions about the intricacies of content creation, the role of influencers, and even technical aspects like how thumbnails are created.

Networking Lunch and Break

After the informative session, a lunch break was provided. A buffet spread was set up, and students, entrepreneurs, and other attendees had the opportunity to network and exchange ideas in a more relaxed setting. The break lasted for about 1 to 1.5 hours, giving everyone time to recharge for the next session.

Chromebook Townhouse: Exploring Chromebook Features

The afternoon event focused on Chromebooks, hosted by the Chromebook Townhouse team. The session was led by the charismatic Karan Prashar, who guided the attendees through various Chromebook features and applications. Karan’s engaging presentation left a lasting impression, as he not only covered the technical aspects of Chromebooks but also explained how these devices can be used for productivity, creativity, and collaboration. His ability to simplify complex features and make them accessible to all participants made him an excellent host for the session.

The highlight of the Chromebook session was hands-on experience of Gemini advanced real-time use cases.

Interactive Chromebook Challenge: Hands-On Tasks

To give students a practical understanding of Chromebook features, a fun and interactive Chromebook Challenge was organized. The attendees were divided into teams of 11 people each, and each team was given a Chromebook and three tasks to complete within 10-15 minutes.

  • Task 1 (Caption Creation): Students were asked to create a caption for a product or business deal of their choice. Using Google Gemini, an advanced tool, they crafted their captions directly on the Chromebook.
  • Task 2 (Email Writing): In this task, students were given two options to choose from on Gmail. The first option involved emailing a customer about a product delay, while the second option was about emailing customers as a business owner announcing a product launch or other similar updates. The Gargi students chose the second option and used Google Gemini for assistance before sending their emails to Karan Prashar’s ID.
  • Task 3 (Slides Creation): This task included three parts:
  1. Creating a slide using Gemini, Google AI.
  2. Creating a slide based on the email written in Task 2.
  3. Removing the background from an image the students used in their presentation.

Once the tasks were completed, the Chromebooks were collected. Due to time constraints, the Gargi students had to leave before the winners were announced.

Exploring Google Office and Special Gifts

Before leaving, the students had the chance to take pictures with the iconic Google door, and many group photos were clicked. They also enjoyed a tour of the Google office in Block B, where they explored the spaces designed for visitors, including cafes and gyms.

As a special gesture for Women’s Day, Chromebook Team provided all Gargi College students with a thoughtful gift hamper, which contained 6-7 items, making the day even more memorable.

Conclusion: A Day to Remember

The event proved to be an incredible opportunity for the students of Gargi College, as well as the other participants. Special thanks to Karan Prashar, whose excellent hosting skills and detailed explanations made the event both enjoyable and informative. His engaging approach helped everyone understand the potential of Chromebooks and the many possibilities they offer for students, entrepreneurs, and content creators alike.

Notably, Anshika, a member of DU Assassins, played an active role in covering the event. DU Assassins, along with InternsInfo, continues to bridge the gap between students and valuable career opportunities through their internships and work atmosphere. Through such initiatives, platforms like these empower students with knowledge, exposure, and networking opportunities that help them grow in their respective fields.

It’s clear that Chromebook continues to foster a space for creativity, learning, and collaboration. The students left the event with new knowledge, valuable connections, and a deeper appreciation for the power of technology in today’s world.
