AAD condemns over Online exams and Decision to Postpone exams

AAD strongly condemns the uncertainty created by the troika of MHRD-UGC-VC over online OBE, which has made the situation bad to worse for the final year students amidst growing pandemic.

Lakhs of students and their parents have been made victims of policy inconsistencies being imposed by the troika – making decisions in top-down centralised arbitrary manner.

The Notification Dated 27.06.2020 for postponing online OBE is another instance of rudderless, adhoc and autocratic policy decisions over the examination in which the students have reduced to be a guinea pig.

This will only add to chaos and confusion on the examination front. What is the rationale for merely postponing? How will the situation change in next ten days? This decision to postpone is as arbitrary as that of conducting online OBE.

From May onwards, we have been raising objections on the basis of procedural violations, academic rationale & logistical roadblocks.

As per its own guidelines, DU has not conducted any mock tests, which has further added to the misery of the students. DU administration could not observe its own guidelines, then what right it has to impose online OBE on the students.
The frequent crashing of DU website and lack of mock tests clearly show that there is no sufficient preparation for conducting online OBE.

Many state governments have taken their own decisions on the final year examination. Under the provisions of an act of the Parliament, the examination is within the purview of DU. Any delay in taking the decision is adding to the desperation of the students, which has deep psychological ramifications for young minds

AAD demands from the university administration to cancel online OBE immediately and not to diminish its credibility of the century old examination system.
