New Delhi: Priyanka, a 19-year-old aspirant, arrived at Delhi University on Monday to
give her last shot at getting admission to her preferred college.
She was in a fix for weeks as she had asked a cyber cafe agent to fill her application
form. “He did not fill BA programme, despite my requests.” She had also removed
NCWEB category from the form, after which her possibility to get through DU
seemed bleak.
For students like Priyanka, the two-day special drive which started on Monday is the
sole hope. Here she can get her form changed and also add NCWEB to it.
Like Priyanka, many thronged to the university campus to rectify their forms and put
their reservation categories they earlier missed out. With these changes, the
aspirants will have the opportunity to apply again under the sixth cut-off list to be out
on July 18.
Gagan Deep, an aspirant who scored 67% in Class XII, came to the conference
centre where separate seats were demarcated for aspirants with specific issues. She
wanted her category be changed from general to OBC. “I don’t have the marks to get
through any college, so I am hoping if I change to OBC category, for which I am
eligible, I could get admission under the sixth list,” she said, adding that she hopes to
get through BCom programme.
The general crowd wanted to change their categories, while some wanted to change
their courses. “We met several aspirants who came requesting to add certain
courses to their forms, but we did not allow them to add a new course,” a DU official
said.
Ranjan, an aspirant who resides in Delhi, was told several times that no new course
would be added to the form. “I asked them to add BA programme, but they did not do
it citing rules. I have nowhere else to go now,” said disheartened Ranjan.
