College staff associations broaden support to DUTA strike

The staff association of various colleges in the Delhi University broadened support to the closure call given by the DUTA, teachers said Tuesday.
The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) called for a 2-day university closure against the administration’s asserted disregard towards the pending promotions and non-involvement of the elected representatives in major decisions.

On Wednesday, the protesters will stage a dharna outside the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. Colleges like Gargi, Kamala Nehru, Institute of Home Economics,Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, College of Vocational Studies, Jesus and Mary, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shivaji, Maitreyi, Rajdhani, Zakir HUssain, Acharya Narendra Dev, Ram Lal Anand, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma, Sri Venkateswara continued their support to the complete closure call given by the DUTA, the teachers said.

Aditya Narayan Misra, president, Academics for Action and Development (AAD) said that the strike of ad hoc teachers of the DU entered its fifth day. Women have also joined them. As there is no facility of washroom, they will go back home at night and will continue their protest at their house. He also said that they demand the consumption of ad hoc and temporary teachers in the Delhi University (DU). Teachers have been working for years without any maternity leave, leave and increment.
